The Cooper’s Hawk butt-cleaning ritual by bananaman33428 on Flickr.
via Flickr: This Cooper’s hawk was spotted by my wife in the shallow water. I thought the bird was about to bathe but to our amazement, the bird just dipped its butt and tail feathers in the water, swished these back and forth for a short while and then took off to dry the butt and the feathers on low branches.

reblog if you live by this!!!
I… I just…. I mean…. is there anything here that really makes any sense at all?
I think I don’t follow ANY of these. Like, literally, ANY of them. None of these are true about me and there is NO way that I’m not considered under the category of “gamer” and “girl” together.
If this didn’t have so many mistakes (spelling-wise), I MIGHT be able to take it seriously but I just can’t. So, let’s fix it.
REAL Gamer Girls
- Don’t feel the need to bash other girls for doing things they don’t
- Have whatever hair color they damn well please
- WEAR whatever they damn well want to wear
- WEAR as much or as little makeup as they damn well want to and whenever they want to
- Are allowed to like “girly” things if they want to (because being a gamer girl doesn’t mean you’re a MAN or have to only like MAN things) (just labeling things as girly or manly is starting to make me sick)
- Can WEAR contacts OR glasses because…. seriously? I just want to be able to see. Does it really matter how I choose to be able to see? What if I decided to have laser surgery to correct my vision? Do I have to wear glasses to be considered a gamer girl. HELL NO.
- Hopefully can see the good in more than just Xbox consoles because there’s a hell of a lot more out there than that. I still play my damn N64. I’d play a PS3 if I had one. Have you ever played Little Big Planet? GAME IS DAMN FUN WITH FRIENDS, SON.
- Don’t need to be able to beat men at any video game to be considered a gamer. All you have to do is play games. Anyone who routinely plays video games is a gamer. You don’t have to be the best ever! If that were the case, you’d have a lot less gamers.
But here’s the most important one -
- KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WEAR AND WHERE! Because if you haven’t graduated 1st grade yet, you shouldn’t be on the internet. There’s porn on here, guys. PORN. I heard it’s bad for kids.
I’m sorry I had to step up on my soapbox, here, but these types of posts just make me want to quit trying to make men take women who play ANY game seriously. It’s hard to take anyone seriously when they start deciding what classifies a group they want to belong to by excluding others.
ANY woman can be a gamer. Just like ANY man can be a gamer. All you have to do is play games. Doesn’t even matter what kind! Video games, table-top games, board games, card games, anything! It’s something a lot of people enjoy so don’t try to exclude others to make yourself look like you belong to an elite group.

If we start attacking each other for being weak or not being “real enough,” that gives gamer guys the right to do so, as well.
Anyone can be a gamer. That’s the great thing about video games: there is enough variety, and often, a great deal of varied interest, that it has a great appeal to a wide range of audience. You cannot qualify anyone who doesn’t have brown hair as not being a gamer. Sorry, but are you kidding me? Would you say that to a man, that he’s not gamer enough because he’s a blond, or redhead, or dared to dye his hair? No, you wouldn’t, because we give men the benefit of the doubt when they say that they are “gamers.” Nor would you tell a guy that he’s not a gamer because he plays PC games. Really? You want to tell me that World of Warcraft isn’t a legitimate game? Even though it’s basically the foundation for the “gamer guy” trope?
So why fight with the people who can give you the most support and sympathy? Honestly, I think by this point, our biggest problem as gamer girls is ourselves. I’ve been looked down upon for getting into games late (my mom is nonviolent - I got grounded for a week for playing a Wonder Woman game when I was 12. Thank GOD for Zelda, otherwise I would have never transitioned into actual gaming) or for prioritizing school over gaming. And almost all of the help (with the very awesome exception from my friend, Lynn, who I’m pretty sure will see this, so I love you dearly) I’ve gotten in wading into finally playing games were from males. And frankly, I’m sick of the whole “I’m a better gamer girl than you because of reasons,” mentality, because all it does is create needless divisions in a community that could do without any more. I like games. That’s fucking enough.
I’d like to leave the OP with a quote from Felicia Day, hailed as the Queen of the Nerds/Geeks/World. “I’d like to take on this idea of casual games, and people not being real quote-on-quote ‘gamers.’ I think this kind of talk is bullshit. I don’t know where this magical checklist is that measures whether you can call yourself a gamer or not, but I think this attitude is elitist and prevents gaming from being more acceptable and mainstream. And, the more accepted gaming is, the less likely your boyfriend or girlfriend will complain about you raiding four hours a night. They may even join you!”

Girls have size’s 0-16 (for most stores), and guys don’t have this form of sizing, just the size of their waists.
First of all, it’d be easier to purchase jeans from different stores. A US size 2 at one store may not be the same as a US size 2 from another store. However, if you measure at 26 inches at the waist at one store, you’ll most likely still be 26 inches at another store.
Secondly, stores wouldn’t have to change their standard of sizings. A size 2 now was a size 8 at some point in history. Again, 26 inches is still 26 inches.I also think removing the current standard of sizing for girls (sizing 0-16) would be better psychologically for girls.
I would agree but for the last sentence. I don’t intend to argue this point wholeheartedly, but I feel like knowing the EXACT measure of your waist is a bit more psychologically stressful than a more or less arbitrary number. In fact, I’m pretty sure that the sizes were originally shrunk in order to provide that psychological comfort, something that can’t be attained in the objective inch sizing.
Women tend to have a lot more variation in hips and butt sizes that guys. Women’s pant sizing is a mess but I don’t think just waist sizing is going to help.
I agree with the OP in that I agree they have to be standardized somehow - I’m a 2 in one store and a 6 in another - but I don’t know that waist sizing is the right way to go about it.
HOW DO YOU DRAW SUCH STRAIGHT LINES AND PERFECT CIRCLES.
I GIVE UP.
